As well as photographing all the knives on this site, I've photographed a diverse crowd of people and subjects. Over the years, I've taken to recording images of the new west: the people visiting and relishing the wild high mountain desert: an international crowd on western safari, Hollywood actors and actresses on easy retreat, warming their hands at piñon and juniper smoke campfires, tugging the cinches of saddle-leather.
You might recognize some of the faces: Jimmy Duval from "Independence Day," "Gone in Sixty Seconds," and about fifty other movies. You might recognize Sarah Lassez, from "Roosters," and "Nowhere" and about thirty other films. Both of these fine actors are old friends, and have new current works pending. I casually staged the photos and had lots of fun with the friends and family input.
Some of the places you probably won't recognize. 70,000 year old lakes, ghost towns in the southwest, and even some of my pen and ink drawings.
Many of the photos were manipulated in the darkroom. Yes, I said darkroom, where black and white is still king. I've been considering selling some of my classics in hand-printed runs, like the "Faceless Cowboy" above. Though I've kept the photos pretty small in this venue, I'll include some enlarged versions later, as well as new and old reprints. Stay tuned for that!
