Durango

"Durango" fine handmade custom knife

The Durango is a popular design, and this is one of my early models. It's an unusual piece, because it is actually a replacement knife. How would one of my original Durangos need replaced? The client told me that he had been in a horrific automobile accident, one that thankfully spared his life. In the mangled wreckage, he found only the broken blade of the original Durango, and never found the rest of the knife. He asked that I build a replacement knife, similar to the original, and a custom handmade display case that would not only display the new knife, but have a special place to hold the broken-off blade. This is the result.

This Durango has a mirror polished 440C high chromium stainless steel blade, hand-engraved 304 stainless steel bolsters, Birds Eye Serpentine gemstone handle, and a hand-carved leather sheath. The display case is Red Oak and Lauan (Philippine Mahogany).
